I think that this website is actually working. Like maybe it's not working for communicating en mass, but that's not really my main goal. I've found that it's caused me to make things again, and begin to rediscover and get excited about interests that I forgot, or lost.

I just found two browser extensions that I'm not sure how I didn't think to look for before, but anyway I'm glad to have them now. I use firefox so I'm not sure if they'd be different on a chromium browser. The first is DF YouTube (Distraction Free), it allows you to block things like the home page, recommendations on the side bar, I think shorts too, etc,. The second is IGPlus which just shows you the posts from people you follow on instagram cutting out reels and recommendations, it also shows posts in chronological order instead of algorithmically chosen I think. There are other extensions you can get too, but I just thought I'd share these because YT and IG and my main distractions on my laptop, and while I've managed to get off them on my phone, having to be tethered to my laptop for school makes the browser versions too accessible and addictive for me.

To anyone who missed Nadia's show at ducky's tonight(march 11th) then you missed out. Everyone was phenomenal, and I was blown away by the beauty of it all. Nadia's performance was amazing, just incredible. The energy in the room while she so perfectly executed her vision while utilizing her knowledge of the art form was something larger than the individual parts and I cannot describe it. I congratulate everyone who went up there, everyone killed it

QR codes suck! I'm sure they have some useful applications, and yeah I actually do know that they do, but they should not be overused, and pushed in places that do not need them. Restaurants with a QR code menu for example: why should I have to be on my phone, just print off your menu, I don't care if it's dirty or falling apart, well actually I do, your restaurant is reflected in it's quality of experience, and you can't hide behind my phone, it's still in the experience

My most recent addition to my site is the music library, I plan to change it to just be library. I want to have different sections within the library page for music, books, clothing(will be a sort of side project which outfit generator), other media, etc,. I am currently just using a json file for the music library, but might utilize a database like this forum to allow for better management and searching capabilities.

The other day I got an MP3 player. I got the HIFI Walker H2 and I've been loving it! I've spent the past two days messing with it, getting all my favourite albums on it, and installing rockbox. I have some plans for the custom plugins you can do with rockbox but I might say more on that later. But yeah, if you're thinking about getting a music player I'd recommend it. There's a lot to describe, but ultimately way more fun than spotify, and y'know they suck as a company anyway so, great.

To follow up on my last declaration, I want to make this year the year of intentionality for me. This just means that when I make decisions or build habits, or do anything, I would like to be intentional, which could just be mindfulness, or some other way of setting goals and channeling metaphysical forms that I want to shoot for. This will involve setting 'rules' of sorts but not resolutions e.g., read for 30 minutes a day is not a requirement, but when I think what should I do right now maybe that's a good time to read for at least 30 minutes. I just think that some intentionality can give a lot of form to your life that doesn't necessarily limit or restrict you, it just keeps you from doing what you don't want and build habits you do want.

This will be the year of INTENTIONALITY!!

I am making the prediction that within my lifetime, the study of Computer Science will fundamentally change, splitting into different categories. There will be the trade of computer science, mostly involving problem solving, and programming. Theory of computation, to focus on the theory side of how computer science works and what is possible. Philosophy of computer science, which will involve searching for how computer science interacts with the world, and what that means. I don't think that these should be studied and treated entirely as separates, but I just hope that the distinctions are more widely recognized. I don't think you can fully appreciate one of them without understanding at least parts of the others, but there should be an effort to define the scape. While it can be an ancient subject, it has drastically changed over the past century and while there has been significant work in creating the new of computer science, there is lack in defining.

Over the break I read Autobiography of Red by Anne Carson. I forgot to add it to my currently reading list, so that's why it's still there. I want give it at least a little time on the list because it deserves it. Amazing book! It was graciously gifted to me by my sister Olivia, thanks Liv. It's a book in verse, but it reads like a novel. It was a fascinating story that was beautifully written, I really enjoyed it. I'd recommend reading it, and it's not too long, which although it feels great to make so much progress with the short chapters and the end of the book quickly approaching, by the time you actually reach the end, you will wish there was more. I could go on about this book and I even considered using it for a part of a blog post and still might, but for now I wanted to get this out there. 4/5 stars, probably a 5/5, but I would have to read it again

I was just re-reading my theory of Forms by ME, and while I am kinda happy with the fact that I was able to get so much of what I wanted to say out there, and I feel as though I didn't loose too much in the translation of thought material to language (although of course I missed a lot). The main thing that is bugging me is first the atrocious grammar in some parts, well every part, and the fact that I think some of my explanations, while making sense, use language in ways that I think if tweaked, could unlock another level of understanding.

I often use this website as a metaphor. I'm not sure if that comes across if I haven't talked to you about it in real life, but I do love using this site as a metaphor because that's kinda what I made it for, and I love metaphors. A lot goes into this site on the development that isn't invisible, but isn't really for the visitors, a lot of it has affects on how people use the website, but those changes are more for me. I do those types of changes to further progress towards a greater goal of building this site, but they aren't important. Ultimately, I'm glad to have done a lot of the background work, but it's the stuff that people will interact with and I hear people talk about something they saw on my site that is the important stuff. It sounds simple now, written out like this but yeah that's what this page is for, I suppose just as I stated above with the metaphor.

LET'S ALL GIVE HIM A WARM WELCOME AND HELP HIM CELEBRATE ON HIS SPECIALLLL DAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

I think one of the main contributing factors to if something is slop, is that intent behind it. E.g., "journalism" about menial celebrity drama is only slop because of why it is being done. Same could be said about YouTube content that is done with the sole intent of just keeping people watching. I think that are other factors, but I often think about if something is valuable, and I'm like yeah it's kinda harmless and fun, but it feels like a greater problem and feels like slop

**EDIT From a day ago** In response to some of my musings yesterday, I don't hope for a technological run society, but instead I've lately been getting back into being excited about technology in the way that understanding it can aid your current pursuits greatly. I don't want technology to live my life for me, but instead I think that things like having learned to make this website dynamic so that I can include more cool stuff is cool. It's kinda like Kant's philosophy, love him or hate him, his framework for reality isn't super flashy, but it's the work that he put into it that allowed him to do really cool practical philosophy.
PeterMacAulay· 111d
remember when technology used to be cool, like in Victorious. I don't think that dream is dead yet, but we certainly aren't there
PeterMacAulay· 111d
I do think it would be cooler if people did a year end review of their music listening habits over the past year and how they compared to the year before using their physical music collections to tell the story, but since most people use streaming, this is still pretty cool. One thing that streaming does have is that meticulous data collection and interpreting. It would be pretty hard to get something as cool as seeing your minutes listened, top songs, albums, and artists with physical music, but I don't think it's impossible. That could be a cool project to build our you physical collection for an ultimately cheaper experience long run, but also create a way to track your data yourself. This is a short post but I will say that this is what I feel technology is for, you shouldn't adapt for technology, what's cool is that it can adapt to you. It should be a superpower, not a your limiting factor
PeterMacAulay· 111d
Although I might not even post my wrapped on Instagram myself, anyone saying that it's annoying or you shouldn't sucks. That is anti-social behaviour and although it is just analytics from a horrible huge, company, it's people communicating their experience and that is awesome. I love to see what people have been listening to for the past year. Against all odds, Spotify brings us slightly closer together.
PeterMacAulay· 112d
Spotify Wrapped just came out, and y'know Spotify sucks, but this is like Christmas. Yes please take my data, this is the only time I am excited for a company to analyze my data.

I attended 'Free Words' tonight at Duckys Bar. It was a great event, I had the opportunity to hear a number of very talented writers perform readings of their works. I'm so glad that events like this exist, because you just feel something different when there is a room full of people, who came together to share their unique thought translations using their learned skills. I just like to see people actually doing something to fight their way through the infinite journey as they attempt to reach an idea and share that with others.

Hello? more like Hell No--This is the quality you can come to expect on this forum
PeterMacAulay· 117d
Hello to anyone who sees this! Welcome to my forum. On here I will be posting quick thoughts. I have a projects page but that's not exactly my thoughts, I have essays, but those are more for polished thoughts normally related to philosophy, and I do have a blog, but I wanted something a bit less formal than a full blog post. I needed somewhere for half baked quick thoughts, somewhere that I could put them out there but it doesn't infringe on the format of my other pages, so if you don't want to read these quick thoughts, you don't have to! Also this gives other people a chance to interact with my website and me! I'm excited for this going forward and I promise the posts won't all be this dry.

Status Update:
I just posted my latest project that I was working on in the fall semester. It's a group project that was created as a term project in my Software Design class.
Just posted a blog post that I'm actually pretty happy with for a quick little post. I've found that these things really help me know what I'm thinking about, so that IRL I have something to back up my thoughts, and I think it will long term help to practice writing.
I have an essay and a project coming soon. They are both school assignments so I will likely add them mid December after exams.
Added functionality for displaying content in Blog, Essays, and Projects. I also created fun little images for a couple of projects and an essay. Additionally I wrote a function that can scrape the most recent of each page to display on the home page. – Nov/04/25
Just updated the page to use the index.php file as a directory for all other pages. It took a lot longer than expected (I guess that's to be expected). – Nov/03/25
Added a 404 page with amusing photos – Nov/03/25
Currently learning HTML/CSS/PHP.
I have big plans for taking the dev side of this website to a new level; you may not see all of it as a visitor. I will have a blog post or project update when I'm done, mostly because those are the types of pages that will be possible with my plans.
